What we do

We aim to scale our programme to 05 districts, 2,600 school going and 400 out by 2025.

WHY we do what we do

Out of the over 1,400,000 learners who dropped out of school in 2022, 48% were at primary school UDHS 2022.  According to UNICEF 44% girls in Uganda are married off before their 18th birthday and over 24% of girls aged 15-19 have already begun child bearing with an average of two children according to Uganda Bureau of statics (UBOS).

Globally, 12 million girls marry before the age of 18 each year. We need to act swiftly and go 20 times faster now, to prevent more than 150 million girls from becoming child brides by 2030. Most girls are therefore at a high risk of “Missed Opportunity” whose consequences are generational.

Sadly most youth are troubled by poverty, lack of role models, too much information over load due to technology, easy access to drugs, low self-esteem, with a 34% lacking menstrual education and access to sanitary products.

Solution

Guided by UNICEF, SDGs, CEDAW and Uganda’s policy guidelines and frameworks etc, SHARE is moving from not only keeping girls is school but by providing Knowledge, Skills, and information through Project Based Learning and the 3600 , model as a potential solution to the multi impacting school dropout crisis in Uganda. The model targets school going and out of school girls and boys (agents of change) with a high emphasis to Mindset Change, Entrepreneurship/Financial Literacy, Sustainable Agriculture and avoidance of all health risks. SHARE has been implementing this model since 2014 as a pilot program and is seeking for partners to get it scaled into 50 schools and 05 Districts. We believe that by adopting this model, we build resilient, adoptable, creative, healthy entrepreneurs that can achieve their potential and shape a bright future.
